Having always been a city gal, I never knew what it would be like living in the country. I moved into my new home right before Christmas and I am learning my way around my new home territory and meeting some interesting folks. I live about 8 miles from the nearest town so you just can't just run up to the store to grab something, you have to make sure that you know what you need before you jump into the car to "go to town." And, it seems that everything closes up and the sidewalks roll up around 9pm. So, you just have to make a plan. It takes some adjustment.
I love the stillness out here. When it rains, it even sounds different than it does in the suburbs. I am amazed at how many more stars are visible away from all the lights. Very beautiful! In the winter, I can look out the window from my bed and see them. It is May now and with all the leaves on the trees I don't see them as well.
From time to time, I will be writing about my new experiences. Most folks probably wouldn't see anything special in this, but it is all new to me.
